Hey all, my name is Daniel Tran and I am a landscape and commercial photographer based in Sydney, Australia.

My passion for photography started young. At the age of 15 I picked up my first Digital SLR camera, it immediately became something I was passionate about and I have been taking photos ever since.

Since then, I have developed a career predominantly working as a Commercial and Landscape Photographer while also collaborating on a few social media campaigns with brands here and there. I have been fortunate enough to work on a variety of amazing projects for clients such as Canon Australia, Destination NSW, Adobe, NSW National Parks and City of Sydney.

I’ve used Canon gear since the very first day I started out in photography and I have chosen to continue using them as they suit what I need out of a camera. They are also really reliable, which is important for the commercial work that I do and I find them to be the most intuitive cameras currently out there.

My main kit
Canon 5D Mark IV
This is my main go-to camera. It’s a workhorse and suits the majority of situations I shoot.

Canon 5D Mark III
My backup camera. I use this mostly on commercial jobs where I need to shoot with two camera bodies at the same time.

Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L III
My favourite wide-angle lens. I use this lens 90% of the time.

Canon 11-24mm f/4L
A great lens for those situations where 16mm isn’t quite wide enough. I have been enjoying using this lens lately for achieving the super wide perspectives. The only downside to this lens is that I can’t put my regular 100mm filters (related) on it as the front element is huge!

Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II
Although I probably don’t use this lens as much, I do love the sharpness of it and it’s a good all-round lens.

Canon 70-300mm f/4.5
I find this lens to be perfect for those scenes a little far away such as mountains, for those close-up detail shots, or when I want to compress the perspective of the scene I am photographing.

Samyang 14mm f/2.8
I use this lens only for astrophotography when I need something a little wider than 16mm.

NiSi Filters
I have the 100mm NiSi filter system and currently use the NiSi V6 filter holder with a variety of different ND’s, Grad ND’s and a natural night filter. I love how the filter system works and also the lack of colour casts.

Sirui Tripods
My two tripods are the Sirui W-1204 Waterproof Carbon Fiber tripod for anytime I need to shoot near the water and the second is the Sirui R-2214X tripod that offers a little more stability and is used mostly on commercial projects.

Drone
DJI Mavic Pro 2 – I love how portable this is and the image quality is amazing for a drone.
