I first found a passion for photography around 10 years ago. It actually came about whilst practicing another creative art. As a young musician I was able to complete my grade 8 trumpet exam at a young age and tour around the world playing concerts as part of the Bromley Youth Music Trust.
Inspired by what I was seeing, I began to take photos of my travels using my mobile phone. Coupled with the birth of Instagram, I was exposed to more photography and decided to share my work too.
My following grew steadily to about 8k when I was approached by Instagram directly to be on their suggested users list. This saw my audience grow to around 25k in 2 weeks.
As time went on and my love for photography grew, I decided to invest in a DSLR and really pursue photography as a career. I now shoot professional campaign work, host workshops and provide social media consultancy for businesses.
I shoot exclusively Sony Alpha products and I am proud to say that Sony have made me one of their official ambassadors. Particularly, I use the Sony A7R3 and the Sony A9 bodies.
I use the A7R3 for planned cityscape shoots and high end commercial work. Because it has a 42.4MP sensor, the images are very high-res but that all means that the files sizes a pretty big. To save memory on my hard drives, I often use my A9 for general shoots and high action work.
The fact that the A9 can shoot up to 20fps means I can capture moments with ease. The real-time Eye AF on both systems is also a dream!
As for lenses, this is my current arsenal.
• Zeiss 35mm f/1.4
• Zeiss 50mm f/1.4
• Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master
• Sony 12-24mm f/4 G Lens.
• Sony 2.0x Teleconverter
I use the Zeiss 35mm f/1.4 the most. I find it’s the most versatile high quality wide angle and I can shoot everything from cityscapes to portraits with it. The Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 I predominantly use for portraits. I love the depth and bokeh it provides when shooting wide open.
The Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 G Master is a beast! I love shooting cityscapes, street photography and events with this lens. Having the 2.8 version means low light situations are much easier to capture.
The Sony 12-24mm f/4 G Lens is my widest lens and I only use this for architecture imagery. The distortion can be quite noticeable, so a lot of care must be taken when using it.
I like using the 2.0x Teleconverter with the 70-200mm. It means that I can capture images at 400mm f/5.6, which allows me to capture vast skylines from far away, whilst giving beautiful compression.
