Hello everybody, I’m Marius and I’ve been photographing weddings for over nine years. I have always liked to photograph people rather than landscapes. I like the emotion that a person can convey through a photo. I started wedding photography in a funny way with my sister-in-law telling me to start because of my friendly nature and meticulous attention to detail.

I had experience in editing photographs and filming, but I hadn’t done anything professionally. In the first year, I had fourteen weddings. I liked the experience and it transformed me into a more open, empathetic person. It also helped that I am a good communicator.

Main Gear Talk

I don’t like to change lenses when I am working so that’s why I use two cameras. From the outset, I have only photographed using Canon as I love the colour rendition. I started with a 6D and later upgraded to the 5D Mark IV. I now use the R5. It is quite amazing how technology has evolved in recent years.

Cameras

Canon EOS R5 – I love this piece of heaven! The images it produces are beautiful and sharp and my older EF lenses have been reborn on this body.  I use my 5D Mark IV as a backup now.

Lenses

Canon RF 28-70mm f/2 – this is my new favourite lens. I can photograph an entire wedding with it, it’s that good. I just love it! It is versatile and produces very sharp images.

Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 – I use this lens for the family formals, in the church and at the party. I like it because it is much lighter than the older EF 70-200mm F/2.8 L II IS.

Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 – I use this one when I need wider shots, usually in the church and for the wedding party dance floor.

Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 and EF 85mm F/1.4 – I use them for the save the date and trash the dress photo sessions. I like the image rendering of these two gems. These two lenses are currently unbeatable for now.

Lights/Triggers

Canon ST-E3-RT – I use it during receptions and for the wedding party. When I have the time I also use it to capture a more dramatic effect for trash the dress photo sessions.

Canon 600 EX-RT – these are my main lights. They are reliable, and the exposure is always perfect!

Bags/Straps

Manfrotto MB MP-BP-50BB – after six years this is still my main camera bag. It has plenty of room, ample pockets and heavy-duty construction.

Tripods

Manfrotto 190XPRO – I use this small lightweight tripod during the winter when I will often do real estate photography.

Hardware & Software

In the beginning, I used Adobe Lightroom but then I switched to the awesome Capture One Pro. It is both fast and reliable plus the colours look great.

Final Words

I love people and the fact that I can be with them in the most intimate and emotional moments of their lives. It makes me very grateful. I love my job and I hope to be able to do it for years to come until I have a white beard. All the best wishes from Romania!
