I love me a good long weekend, and I love me a good old-fashioned road trip! The joy of throwing the bags in the back, loved ones seated in the passenger seats, starting the engine, and kicking off with some great tunes.
It’s a memory most of us would share in one way or another – the windows down, the fresh air blasting through your hair, and the overwhelming joy of adventure.
A nostalgic range of camera bags and staps that are lightweight, affordable and, best of all, fun.
The minds at Long Weekend have managed to capture much of that feeling and have translated it into a range of carry gear for adventurers and photographers alike.
Not traveling down the same road as other brands, they forged their own path and went in a totally different direction. Drawing inspiration from joyous times past and, in my opinion, combining many nostalgic emotions with retro streetwear vibes, the Long Weekend range was formed.

What is Long Weekend?
The Moment Long Weekend range inspired us to get out and find new places to shoot.
These are bags inspired by long beautiful journeys and capturing life on film, formed out of the love of adventure, style and photography.
Long Weekend was created to inspire you to head out and see the world while documenting and capturing memories – whether wandering the streets of a bustling city, traveling down a beautiful coastline, or venturing off the beaten path through a forest.
The bag was designed in collaboration with film photographer Willem Verbeeck & his girlfriend Allison. Moment helped bring the project to life, but thanks to Willem and Allison’s great eye for style and functionality, it made creating a great bag so much easier.
The creative minds behind the brand set out to achieve their vision, and produced a range of gear that (to me) is rather reminiscent of times gone by, but living strong in our memories.
I get a rather ’90s feel from their designs, which takes me back to sitting in the back of the car on holiday, playing with my parents’ film cameras and developing my love of photography!
Santa Fe Shoulder Bag
There’s no reason bags can’t be a little fun and quirky. Long Weekend definitely took that idea and ran with it!
Dimensions: 28 x 17.5 x 6.5 cm (11” W x 6.9” H x 2.5” D)
Front Cargo Pocket: 12.5 x 11 x 2 cm (4.9” W x 4.3” H x 0.75” D)
Front Drawstring Pocket: 12.5 x 11 x 2 cm (4.9” W x 4.3” H x 0.75” D)
Interior Zipper Pocket: 28 x 14 cm (11” W x 5.5” H)
Strap Length Range: 91-158 cm (36” to 62”)
The Santa Fe Shoulder Bag is the largest carry solution within this range, with a capacity of up to 3L. It’s constructed from weatherproof 500D recycled nylon and features trusty and smooth YKK zippers.
Available in a distinctive cream and blue colourway or a more discrete black design, it features two convenient small pouches on the outside and a single full-width internal zipper pouch on the inside with a see-through mesh.
This bag is large enough to fit a mirrorless camera with a small prime lens, or a small point and shoot camera with everyday carry items stowed away inside.
It’s great for day trips or small adventures, and sized nicely to work as a “grab and go” bag! Just take what you need and make the most of your time away!
The front pockets are great for keys, spare batteries, etc, or if you’re a pocket shooter you can fit a small film or point and shoot digital camera in there too.
Dynamic in that it doesn’t serve just one carry purpose, the Santa Fe Shoulder Bag is as interchangeable as your own outfit.
You won’t find this bag covered in thick padding; it’s designed to be a simple classic lightweight shoulder bag ready to carry the essentials for your adventure.
I was able to load it up with a cardigan, sunglasses, wallet, batteries, and an assortment of other essentials, along with my Sony A7 III with a Sony 24mm f/1.8 Zeiss prime attached.
In place of the cardigan, my Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 also fits vertically, but be mindful that there are no padded dividers within this bag. So use a lens pouch on extra lenses to keep them safe.
Priced at just under US$60, the Long Weekend Santa Fe Shoulder Bag is exceptional value – especially considering how nicely built and how lightweight it is. It’s a fantastically simple bag that has come in handy numerous times already.
Versatile enough to load up with doggy items for walks in the park, or with camera gear for adventures to the big city, the Santa Fe Shoulder Bag is a great solution for the simpler times.
Sacoche Crossbody
The Sacoche Crossbody Bag is the extra pocket you didn’t realise you needed every day.
Dimensions: 24 x 17.5 cm (9.5” W x 6.9” H)
Front Pocket: 240 x 140 mm (9.5” W x 1.6” H)
Strap Length Range: 71 to 158 cm (28” to 62”)
Marketed as the “extra pocket you didn’t know you needed”, the Sacoche Crossbody is a handy little shoulder sling that you can throw into any larger bag or keep tucked away for the moments you may need it.
An elegant solution to a simple problem: Do you not have enough pockets to carry the extra bits and pieces you might need today?
Available in the same cream and blue or black design as the shoulder bag, while being constructed from a durable 500D recycled nylon and technical Gridstop, it’ll endure through the everyday use for which it’s well suited!
Happily gobbling up 1.5L of gear between both the main compartment and front pocket, the Sacoche Crossbody is convenient enough to carry a number of key items that may otherwise not fit in your pockets.
The main compartment will fit a combination of smaller items, such as small cameras, passports, spare cash, batteries, film rolls, power banks, and even camera lenses.
It’s also large enough to hold that Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 that I mentioned earlier, along with a wallet or even the Godox TT250 flash!
Being soft and malleable, you can really load up the Sacoche Crossbody with more things than you’d expect.
The slimmer front pocket will fit the more slender items like spare cables, pens, cards, phones, and whatever else you may need.
Just note that the front pocket is held closed by a small strip of velcro and isn’t completely sealed up, so if the bag tips upside down items may come out. Personally, I feel it should also have a zipper for added security.
Priced at under US$40, it’s a handy little extra pocket that can be folded up and tucked away into larger bags, or kept as the extra little convenient bag when needed.
It’s also convenient and secure enough to be utilised every day for those smaller essentials you may need.
Film Pouch (15 Rolls)
The Film Pouch doesn’t have to be exclusively used for film – it compresses up pretty small and can be used to organise anything!
More or less targeted at those who capture on film rather than digital, the Film Pouch is a simple lightweight organisational solution for the never-ending rolls of film that one may carry.
The reusable Film Pouch is available in two sizes to suit your needs, and is made from a weatherproof ripstop material. It features a soft internal divider to help differentiate between your fresh and exposed rolls.
Both the 5-roll and 15-roll sized Film Pouches contain a simple drawstring closure system to keep things secure and in place.
The pouches are priced at around US$25-$30 for either size respectively. If keeping your film clean and safe is important, that is a price well spent.
I don’t carry film, however, the Film Pouch is a nice and soft organisational bag that you can throw into your kit to keep things together!
Camera Neck Strap
Fun-looking, comfortable, and strong: the Long Weekend Neck Strap is a cost-effective and durable camera strap!
Weight Capacity: 4.5 kg (10 lb)
Generally, camera straps are a simple thing: they’re a strip of material that secures your camera to your person.
Where the differences tend to be are in the details. That’s where higher quality brands and considered builds come into play and stand out!
Long Weekend have taken comfort and security into consideration. They have utilised a sturdy lightweight ripstop material and reinforced stitching to make their Camera Neck Straps both extra comfortable and extra secure for everyday use.
Available in the same cream and blue or black as the rest of the range, these strong and grippy neck straps are made for flinging your beloved camera over your shoulder – without fear of the strap ripping apart and dropping your gear onto the pavement.
Competitively priced at around US$40 each, they’re a price-conscious way of combining style, function, and durability.
Camera Wrist Strap
The Wrist Strap may be small, but it’s a star! It’s easily swappable to almost anything else.
For those smaller cameras not suited to a full size neck strap, or as a lanyard for a set of keys you often misplace, the Long Weekend Camera Wrist Strap has a wider range of uses than one may think!
As with everything else (other than the Film Pouch), the Camera Wrist Strap is available in the same cream/blue or black designs.
This strap is simple in every way but still built with comfort and security as a top priority. Just because the camera you’re using may be too small for a larger strap, doesn’t mean its safety is any less important.
Swinging in at around US$20, it’s a cheap and great solution for those who only need a small strap around the wrist to keep things secure. Great to just have hanging around, you never know when it may come in handy!
It’s super easy to slide the adjuster up and make it fit tightly. The universal cord slipknot connector also allows you to quickly unloop it from your camera and tether it to anything else you may want to keep around. No fuss!
Moment Long Weekend Review | Conclusion
Long Weekend set out to achieve something, and I believe they have done so. I’m interested to see what’s next!
In a world filled with black and grey camera bags with modern leather accents, the Long Weekend range is a fun and refreshing change.
Kicking it with rather retro and nostalgic vibes, they’re good fun in what can (at times) be a rather drab and straight-edged industry.
Not only that – whilst they may currently only have the smaller bags, they did successfully force me to be more “in the moment”, rather than just thinking about having all the “right gear”.
