I’m Jamie, a Family & Child Portrait Photographer based out of Las Vegas, Nevada.

My approach to photography is very non-traditional. I encourage a ton of interaction by playing games, and providing my clients with guided cues to help elicit natural emotions and connections.

I also am married with four kids of my own, and really enjoy and take inspiration from just documenting my daily life with three boys and a daughter. It’s the littlest of life’s precious moments that inspire me the most.

Even though I own a few different lenses, there are two that are my go to choices for most client sessions and good majority of my personal life.

In My Bag…

Camera:
I currently only have one camera body, the Nikon D750, but I plan on adding a second body this year so I don’t have to waste time changing lenses. I absolutely love my Nikon D750, but I am seeing a Nikon D850 in my very near future too.

Lenses:
Nikon 105mm f/2D – This was my workhorse for many years. I loved the compression of the background with this lens. However, I have used it to death and it’s not really as sharp as it used to be. So, this past year, it has taken more of a backseat to my Sigma Art lenses.

Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 – I really got this lens for personal reasons. Raising three boys translates to lots of sports! So, I needed something versatile that I could use to document games and our life on the go.

Nikon 50mm f/1.4 – I still really love this lens for a simple headshot portrait. There is zero distortion and the ability to open up the aperture to 1.4 can give me tack sharp focus on the eyes while leaving everything else creamy and blurred.

Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art – This is absolutely my go-to lens for almost everything! It’s great for working indoors because it gives me enough room to get all the elements I am looking for in the frame. I also love using it to get those intimate moments of families. I can be close enough to my clients to direct them and catch the attention of little ones as needed. Plus, there is just something about the look of the Art Lenses that gets me every time!

Sigma 85mm f/1.4 Art – My newest addition and my second go-to lens. I loved my 35mm so much that I just had to add this to my collection, and it certainly does not disappoint. I can still get that creamy compression for pullback shots, without being ridiculously far from my subjects.

Nikon 105mm f/2.8 micro – My favorite lens for capturing all those little details like tiny hands and feet, a mother’s embrace, or long lashes and baby curls.

Accessories:

SD Cards – I always travel with several San Disk SD Cards in varying sizes. They have never let me down, so I stick with what works.

Spare Camera Batteries – Who doesn’t travel with a few extra of these?

Expodisc – I will never leave home without this. Ever. This has saved me so much time color correcting in post process. I could never fully remember Kelvin Settings so this took all the think-work out for me and gave me great color straight out of camera.

Alpine Labs Pulse – In an effort to put myself in front of my camera with my family every once in a while, I purchased this amazing little toy. I have not had it that long, but I have already used it quite a few times and love that I can now document my personal life with me in the frame!

Lavender Organic Hand Sanitizer – Working with little ones, it’s always a good idea to have a
bottle of hand sanitizer on hand!
